Pengertian Active Voice

Dilansir dari situs Grammarly, Kamis (25/1/2024), active voice atau kalimat aktif merupakan kalimat di mana subjek melakukan suatu perbuatan. Dengan begitu, subjek dalam kalimat tersebut bertindak sebagai pelaku.

Active voice terbagi menjadi dua, yakni transitive dan intransitive sentence. Transitive sentence merupakan kalimat yang menunjukkan sebuah pekerjaan dan membutuhkan objek, sedangkan intransitive sentence tidak membutuhkan objek.

Pengertian Passive Voice

Sementara itu, passive voice atau kalimat pasif adalah sebuah kalimat di mana subjek dari kalimat tersebut dikenai pekerjaan tertentu. Dengan demikian, subjek tersebut bertindak sebagai penerima sebuah aksi atau receiver of action.

Jika dalam active voice terdapat transitive dan intransitive sentence, maka hanya transitive sentence yang bisa diubah menjadi passive voice. Hal ini lantaran intransitive sentence tidak memiliki objek.
