Pengertian Kalimat Aktif (Active Voice)

Dikutip dari buku "Joyfull Learning Bahasa Inggris" karya Agus Nurjaman, active voice atau kalimat aktif adalah suatu verb form (bentuk kata kerja) di mana subject kalimat melakukan aksi yang dinyatakan dengan verb. Dengan demikian pada active voice, subject bertindak sebagai “the doer of the action” atau pelaku aksi.

Kalimat aktif dalam bahasa Inggris mempunyai pola yang mengandung predicate (be, modal, atau verb) yang diikuti oleh pelengkap (complement) kata benda atau pengisi pelengkap yang sejajar dengan kata benda.

Rumus Kalimat Aktif (Active Voice)

Sebelum mempelajari contoh kalimat aktif dalam bahasa Inggris, ketahui rumus dari active voice (kalimat aktif dalam bahasa Inggris) adalah sebagai berikut.

Subject (the doer of the action) + Action Verb (Action) + Direct Object (The receiver of the action) atau dalam bahasa Indonesia S + P + O.

Keterangan pada rumus diatas dapat dijelaskan berupa Direct Object, dapat berupa noun, pronoun, atau noun substitute, ditambahkan hanya jika action merupakan transitive verb (kata kerja yang membutuhkan objek).
