• Kalimat negatif

Rumus: Subject + Did + Not + Verb 1 + Complement

Pada kalimat negatif, verb yang digunakan tidak menggunakan verb 1, tetapi bentuk kedua. 

Contoh: 

• I did not like ice cream. 

• They did not know how much I love you. 

• We did not talk to her before the examination. 

• She did not judge anyone again. 

• Henry did not look at me.

Rumus: Did + Subject + Verb 1 + Complement?

Sama seperti kalimat negatif, kalimat tanya simple past tense juga dilengkapi dengan verb 1, bukan verb 2.

• Nominal simple past tense

Nominal simple past tense tidak menggunakan kata kerja yang menunjukkan aksi atau tindakan. Oleh sebab itu, terdapat to be was dan were yang melengkapi.

Sebagaimana yang telah dijelaskan, to be ‘was’ atau ‘were’ akan digunakan dalam kalimat jenis ini. Namun perlu diketahui bahwa to be ‘was’ akan digunakan jika subjeknya adalah ‘I’, ‘he’, ‘she’, ‘it’, atau nama orang tunggal.

Sedangkan to be ‘were’ dipakai saat subjeknya berupa kata ganti ‘they’, ‘we’, atau nama orang jamak.
